A Texas grand jury has indicted an illegal immigrant suspect in the brutal murder of a 16-year-old girl on capital murder charges.
Rafael Gobert Romero, 23, intentionally caused the death of Lisbeth Medina during an attempted robbery, robbery or sexual assault, according to an indictment obtained by FOX News Digital.
The documents also allege that Romero killed Medina by “banging her head against a hard surface,” “hitting her in the head with a hard object,” and “repeatedly stabbing and cutting her with a sharp object or knife.” are doing.
“It’s very disturbing,” Jacqueline Medina, Lisbeth’s mother, told Fox News Digital about the indictment, adding that “all the evidence and all the other details” in the case led to a grand jury finding a capital murder charge. He added that he thought he had won.

Jacqueline attended the parade after work to cheer on her daughter, but never saw her there, but she immediately contacted Lisbeth’s friends and started trying to find out where her daughter was. .
When she returns home later that day, she finds Lisbeth dead in the bathtub of Edna’s apartment with her legs sticking out from behind the shower curtain.

Days later, when Edna police named Romero as a suspect in her murder, Jacqueline told Fox News Digital that the man had no connection to her daughter or her family.

Jacqueline previously told Fox News Digital that she was unable to reach him at first. She and Lisbeth have noticed that small things have been missing from the apartment for some time. Several large items were missing, so he filed a lost property report with the police on November 13.
“We believe the robbery on November 13, 2023 may be connected to the murder suspect,” Edna police officers wrote in an affidavit at the time. “I believed that the suspect in this murder was at large and was a current danger to the community.”

Edna authorities also suggested that Romero may have stolen Lisbeth’s cell phone after the murder. On the day she was murdered, Lisbeth’s boyfriend used her smartphone to track the 16-year-old’s location to an area about half a mile from her apartment.

The next day, Lisbeth’s cousin noticed that her Snapchat sent to the victim had been opened, indicating that someone had been using her phone since her death.
Within an hour of reporting suspicious phone activity to Edna police, authorities were able to track the location of Lisbeth’s cell phone. Schulenberg, Texas; It’s about an hour’s drive from Edna, where Romero was arrested.

Jacqueline said she still has many questions about what happened to her daughter and why the suspect allegedly targeted a 16-year-old girl, and hopes for answers as Romero’s case plays out in court. He said he was waiting.
