GOP leaders suggest Biden ‘unfit’ after ‘disturbing’ special counsel description

Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louis.) and other House Republican leaders said President Biden will be in office after Special Counsel Robert Hur’s report Thursday detailed the president’s memory limitations. He suggested that he was “unfit” to be president.

In a joint statement, Johnson, Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana), Majority Leader Tom Emmer (R-Minnesota), and Conference Chair Elise Stefanik (New York) In a joint statement, they blamed the special prosecutor’s decision not to file charges. The president’s handling of classified material “exposes a two-tiered justice system with politically motivated charges while carrying water for others in similar allegations,” according to the Justice Department. This refers to former President Trump, who was indicted for handling classified materials. Confidential document.

But the leaders deepened their typical dissatisfaction with the disparate treatment of Republicans.

“One of the most disturbing parts of this report is the special counsel’s justification for not recommending charges: that the president’s memory has very ‘significant limitations.’ House Republican leaders say they were unable to convince a jury that the president was in a “willful state of mind” that would have caused him to commit a serious felony.” the team said.

“A person so incapable of being held accountable for mishandling classified information is certainly not suitable for the Oval Office,” they added.

The House Republican leadership’s open doubts about Biden’s ability to serve as president come despite the report not recommending charges as the 81-year-old Biden struggles with voter dissatisfaction with his age. It shows what a gift it can be to the Republican Party. Re-elected this year.

Ho’s report found that Biden “intentionally” retained classified documents, which were stored in his old office space and at his home in Wilmington, Delaware, but that “evidence does not exceed a reasonable doubt.” “It has not proven Mr. Biden’s guilt beyond that.”

In explaining the decision not to indict, Huh’s report, who was appointed to the post by President Trump in 2017, said his team believes Biden “has no chance of going before a jury like we did.” The company stated that it had “taken into consideration” the fact that the Interview with him as a sympathetic and well-meaning older man with a poor memory. ”

A particularly brutal section of the report against Biden says he has difficulty remembering the exact dates of the start and end of his term as vice president, and that he “does not remember when his son Beau died, even within a few years.” the report details.

Reacting to the special counsel’s report in a letter, White House special counsel Richard Sauber and Biden’s personal adviser Bob Bauer aggressively pushed back against the characterization of Biden’s memory, saying that since the special counsel’s report , argued that it would be unfair to discuss the impact of Biden’s potential testimony on the jury. The lawyer said the “evidence” did not prove guilt.

“We do not believe that this report’s treatment of President Biden’s memory is accurate or appropriate. This report does not reflect an event that is common among witnesses, an event that took place many years ago. He uses the highly prejudicial term “I can’t remember,” the letter states.

Sauber and Bauer also noted that Biden’s interview took place the day after the Oct. 7 terrorist attack in Israel.

“You not only treat the president differently than other witnesses when discussing his limited recollection of events from years ago, but you do so at times with biased and inflammatory language. “Sometimes,” they said.
