Good Samaritans recently spent four hours rescuing a pack of puppies trapped under an abandoned house in Missouri.
Kansas City Protected Animal Welfare Society (KC PAWS) Director Michelle Rascon told Fox News Digital that the shelter rescued a group of six puppies in January.
The breed of the puppy is unknown, but the shelter believes it may be part German Shepherd, part Akita, or part Husky.

A local woman noticed a pack of dogs living under an abandoned house and alerted the shelter. KC PAWS said she was concerned about the cold and the shelter responded quickly.

When rescuers arrived, the mother was nowhere to be found.
Rascon said the mission was brutally difficult as the puppies kept running away in fear.

“It was very difficult to move around in a small space. [but] The puppies were able to move around freely,” Rascon said.
KC PAWS volunteers said it was “physically taxing” but glad the puppies were brought to safety.
The shelter posted footage of the rescue on TikTok. The rescued puppies were returned to the shelter to be fed and cleaned.
Two days later, animal rescuers found the littermate’s mother.

“Finally I found her. [and] Got her within 24 hours! ” a KC PAWS official said in a TikTok video.

“Once she was caught, she was very sweet, happy to be rescued, and warm!”
Rascon told Fox News Digital that the puppies are in “great condition” and will be ready for adoption by the end of this week.

“They are all scheduled to be spayed/neutered this week and then they will be ready to go to their forever homes,” Rascon said. “Mom, too.”

KC PAWS officials said the problem of stray dogs struggling in freezing weather is not new.
“Unfortunately, due to the large number of pets in our country and the lack of responsible homes available for stray dogs, we often see stray dogs outside trying to fend for themselves,” Rascon said. explained.
