Dallas Cowboys legend Emmitt Smith isn’t happy with his former team’s lack of success in recent years.
The Cowboys have won the Super Bowl five times, their last title coming back in 1995. And longtime owner Jerry Jones continues to express his desire to win another title.
Last month, Jones received some criticism for his decision to retain head coach Mike McCarthy.
McCarthy won a Super Bowl with the Packers and has played four seasons in Dallas. He led the team to 12 wins in the regular season for three consecutive years, but was unable to achieve a similar level of success in the postseason.

The Cowboys’ blowout loss to Green Bay in the wild-card round marked the team’s most recent playoff disappointment.
Smith suggested he was angry about recent issues.
Eagles legend says Jerry Jones raved about Bill Belichick but “didn’t really support” Mike McCarthy
“I’ve never been where I am now,” Smith told USA Today Sports about his former team during the Super Bowl XV radio debate. “That’s borderline embarrassing.”

Afterwards, a frustrated Smith indicated that he was no longer interested in supporting the Cowboys.
“It’s over,” Smith said. “When I think about what I’ve been through this past year with the Cowboys, it feels like I’ve never been to this place, where I’m at right now.”
Smith also mentioned Dak Prescott during the interview, suggesting he’s not satisfied with the quarterback’s development.

The all-time leading rusher in NFL history expressed his excitement about the addition of Mike Zimmer to the Cowboys’ coaching staff.
“I can’t wait to give him a big hug because I think we need to bring some old traditions back to our team,” Smith said of the next defensive coordinator. Zimmer served as the head coach of the Minnesota Vikings for eight seasons until his retirement in 2021.
He previously had a long stint as an assistant coach with the Cowboys.

Smith also said the team has lacked a certain level of “respect” in recent years.
“Nobody wants to fight anymore,” Smith said of the current group of players. “No one wants hard fights anymore. They (want to say) ‘Oh, we’re the Cowboys. Tell me how good I am. Check out my Instagram posts. Please, watch me on my podcast? I do all this stuff.’ I’m all about it.’ People give them a pat on the back for nothing.
“People want to give a lot without doing anything, and what they live for is what happened in the past, not what is happening now. They are establishing their legacy. And we’re certainly not building on that legacy. We’re not building on that legacy.”
