Disney on Ice Belle actor in ‘critical’ condition after fall

An ice skater who played the role of Belle from “Beauty and the Beast” fell during a performance at the Disney on Ice show in Minneapolis on Saturday, leaving her in critical condition.

Officials said in a release that the skater fell onto the ice in an accident while being lifted into the air by another performer. Retrieved from KARE11.

The performer was taken to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was listed in serious but stable condition as of Sunday morning.

The extent of her injuries is currently unknown.

One local mother, identified by the station as Bekah, said she was in the elevator with the Beast actor when Bell appeared to be “shaking” before the fall.

“She was doing a lift and she was unsteady and fell,” her mother said, adding that she was injured about 40 minutes after the 11 a.m. show started.

“I am extremely grateful to the remaining staff and performers who continued to work to protect the magic of children. I know it must have been very difficult,” she added.

Disney on Ice said, “We appreciate the well wishes from our fans as we work towards the recovery of our team members.”

The company added that the injured performer was a member of the production, not a local Minnesota skater.

The show is scheduled to run through Sunday in Minneapolis.
