As the influx of migrants from around the world continues to surge, many are entering the country through gaps in the border wall, and TikTok is reportedly helping them do so.
“TikTok, TikTok,” an interpreter representing a 37-year-old Chinese female immigrant relayed to “60 Minutes” when asked how she learned about the gap at the southern border near California.
Migrants are using a video on a Chinese-owned social media platform that provides “step-by-step instructions” on how to find gaps in the border wall and hire smugglers, according to a segment on “60 Minutes.” It is said that
“TikTok strictly prohibits human smuggling, and we remove it from our platform and report it to law enforcement when warranted,” a TikTok spokesperson told Fox News Digital.
According to TikTok’s website, the company “provides a space for survivors of human exploitation to share their stories and for immigrants and refugees to document their journeys.”
The social media company also claimed that 93% of human trafficking content on its platform has been actively removed.
“60 Minutes” also reported that SUVs were arriving along the border fence every 30 minutes and dropping off larger and larger groups of migrants, with a total of about 600 people crossing over the four days alone.
The Senate unveiled a new bipartisan border bill this month, but it quickly died due to overwhelming Republican opposition.
Speaker of the House Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) expressed his thoughts on the proposed bill’s impact on X, saying:
This bill is even worse than we expected, and it will be far from ending the border disaster the president has wrought. As the Democratic chief negotiator declared, “the border will never close” under this bill.
House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-Louisiana) also said, “Let me be clear: the Senate border bill will not get a vote in the House.” Here’s what the people pushing this ‘deal’ aren’t saying: The deal allows for 5,000 illegal immigrants per day and automatically grants work permits to asylum seekers, making it a magnet for more illegal immigrants. ”
The head of the U.S. Border Patrol was disappointed that Congress was unable to pass the agreement.
“We need more people. We need more agents. They need more agents in terms of technology and equipment infrastructure that not only helps them do their jobs better, but also helps keep them safe.” We need to redouble our efforts.” Jason Owens during an interview with FOX News. “I’m disappointed. And I say [Congress]Don’t stop. Please continue to work together and reach an agreement to keep this country safe. ”
As the impact of the immigration crisis unfolds, states are fighting an uphill battle to avoid being overwhelmed by the pressure of admitting thousands of new immigrants.
