Male High Jumper Obliterates Girls’ State Record in New Hampshire High School Championship

Kearsarge Regional High School sophomore high jumper Mael Jacks, a man but competed as a woman, won the New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association Division 2 state championship.

For the past two years, Jack has topped the ranks of girls in the school district, winning tournament after tournament, according to the magazine. NH Journal.

Riley Gaines, a women’s sports advocacy group, blamed the school district and other athletes’ parents for allowing Jack to compete as a girl and destroying many girls’ sports records.

“How could this boy’s parents allow their son to deceive and deprive qualified women of opportunities? Why wouldn’t you say ‘no’?” Gaines wrote of X, “This country is full of failed and gutless mothers and fathers.”

The school district has often defended its decision to allow Jack to play as a girl.

“Kearsarge supports all students and student-athletes, regardless of gender identity,” said District Superintendent Winfried Fenneberg.

“Each student-athlete has the right to compete in the activity of his or her choosing,” she said. “The New Hampshire Interscholastic Athletic Association’s position on this issue is clear: Denying that opportunity is a violation of the equal rights afforded under state and federal law.”

“Additionally, we believe that restricting access to any activity violates our core mission and vision, which is based on supporting the right of all students and student-athletes to pursue their goals and interests. Feinberg added.
