Criminal charges against Miles Bridges dropped

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Criminal charges related to a domestic violence incident against Charlotte Hornets forward Miles Bridges were dismissed Tuesday due to “insufficient evidence,” court documents show.

Bridges was charged with three misdemeanor counts of violation of a domestic violence protection order, child abuse and injury to personal property, which was issued on Oct. 6, 2023.

Prosecutors “will not be successful at trial,” the state said in a filing in Charlotte-Mecklenburg County Court.

Authorities say the woman who accused Bridges gave conflicting stories about what happened.

“Given the lack of sufficient evidence necessary to overcome the inconsistencies in these accounts, the state will not prevail at trial,” the court document signed by prosecutor Samantha Pendergrass said. has been written.

When officers responded to the call, they found a woman and her child inside a vehicle with a broken windshield, according to Superior Court documents.

She initially told police that another woman in the home did the damage, but a few days later told police that Bridges was the one who did it.

The woman later told prosecutors she didn’t know how her car was damaged, according to court documents.

Mr. Bridges was scheduled to appear in court on February 20 to answer to these charges.

Bridges will miss the entire 2022-23 NBA season due to a domestic violence incident that began in June 2022. He was accused of assaulting his mother in front of her child in Los Angeles.

Bridges, who will be an unrestricted free agent after the season, is averaging 20.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game for the Hornets this season.
