Itâs never good to lose the toss in India, but this might not be the worst game in which to bowl first. There might be a little bit in the pitch for Jimmy Anderson this morning, and the consensus from those on the ground is that the pitch â which looks a belter â wonât break up completely. Still, youâd rather be batting first.

Hello and welcome to live coverage of India v England at Rajkot. The third day of a Test match is often described as âmoving dayâ, because itâs often when an evenly matched game begins to move decisively in one direction. The contest we are about to enjoy, the third in a five-match series, might be a a rare example of a moving Test.

Itâs only the fourth time this century that a five-Test series has been 1-1 after two games. A draw is almost impossible, even on what should be the best batting pitch of the series, so one of these teams will almost certainly move within touchign distance of a series victory.

Itâs too early to imagine it might be England, because a series win away to India â even an under-strength India â would be almost too joyous to bear. But just imagine if itâs England.

Ben Stokes: 100 is not out
Don’t worry about “moving the test”, this is definitely a test full of milestones. Ben Stokes will be playing his 100th Test, while Ravichandran Ashwin and James Anderson are aiming for even rarer achievements. Ashwin needs one wicket against his 500 in Tests. Anderson he needs 5 to make 700.
Jimmy is always there, and we’ve become numb to that fact. england fast bowler 700 Test wickets required. When he started his career 21 years ago, Courtney Walsh holds the record with 519, and only one English bowler, Lord Beefy, had half the number of wickets that Anderson currently has. That’s completely ridiculous.
Another test is being carried out at Huakaand Australia, especially Darcey Brown, are off to a great start.
Sign up for a spin!
We’re almost guaranteed to see Zac Crowley and Ben Duckett bat until tomorrow, but give this a read anyway. Very good.
team
India made four changes in total. Axar Patel and Mukesh Kumar will be replaced by Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Siraj, who were injured and rested in Vizag.
India Jaiswal, Rohit (c), Gill, Sarfaraz, Patidar, Jadeja, Jurel (wk), Ashwin, Kuldeep, Siraj, Bumrah.
England Crawley, Duckett, Pope, Root, Bairstow, Stokes (c), Foulkes (wk), Lehan, Hartley, Wood, Anderson.
India won the toss and bat.
Losing the toss in India is never a good thing, but this might not be the worst game to bowl first. Jimmy Anderson’s pitch may have a little leeway this morning, but the consensus among those on the field is that it won’t completely collapse. Still, it would be better to go first.
“We batted first, which is what you do in India when you win the toss,” said Ben Stokes. “This series is well balanced and that’s a fair reflection.” I’m feeling refreshed after the break and looking forward to this week’s battles. ”
Team news: Sarfaraz and Jurel make test debut
India will have two more debutants in this match. The first are Sarfaraz Khan, a 26-year-old who boasts a top-class average of 69.85 points, and wicketkeeper Dhruv Jhuler. They replace Shreyas Iyer and KS Bharat, who fielded admirably in the first two Tests but produced a modest 92 runs in four innings. We are still waiting to see who will replace Ravindra Jadeja.
England announced their squad yesterday with one change from Vizag, with Mark Wood joining and Shoaib Bashir out.
Please say hello #TeamIndiatest debutant 💋

preamble
Hello. Welcome to the live coverage of India vs England in Rajkot. His third day of a Test match is often referred to as the “moving day”, as evenly matched matches often start to move decisively in one direction. The match we are about to enjoy is the third of a five-game series, and could be a rare example of an emotional test.
This is only the fourth time this century that a five-Test series has ended with one win and one loss after two matches. It’s almost certain that one of these teams will come within striking distance of winning the series, as even the best batting in the series will make a tie nearly impossible.
It is too early to imagine that it might be England. This is because if they win a series away from India, even if India is out of their league, they will be so happy they can’t bear it.But I justahIf that’s the UK.
