Since splitting from business partner Desus Nice, KidMero has launched his own podcast with former NBA star Carmelo Anthony. Brooklyn 7 p.m.where the pair recently sat down to discuss the dramatic end to Melo’s partnership.
“I was upset at first,” Melo admitted while sitting with Anthony and Joe Budden. “This is a business, I don’t have any friends in this business. And I was in a situation where I had my girlfriend’s four kids and two mortgages…The taxes are outrageous. The real life situation… It’s happening.”
He explained that the first sign of trouble came when he was approached to sign with DraftKings, a sports betting company. But Melo said Nice were not interested. “This is getting to the point where we have to do it,” he said. “and [Nice is] It’s like, “Oh, I can’t leave here now.” To me, that’s where this shitty rot begins.”
He also added that he and filmmaker Judd Apatow had a conflict over whether to make a movie together. knocked up and 40 year old virgin.
Melo explained that the film was already written, but Desas admitted that he “didn’t really feel it.” “When we were filming together, [Apatow], you don’t actually do a movie with this guy,” Melo said. “This guy is like a kingmaker. When you clash with him, you get hard. That’s what takes you to the next level.”
He said he felt like he and Nice were “in two different places in life” and wanted something different from the brand they were building together.
But in true Bodega Boys fashion, Nice responded to Melo’s comments about X with a GIF.
He also liked tweets from users who commented on podcast clips. write, “IDK. Looking at this clip, Mello seems to have admitted that Desas is more sought after as a talent. ”
The two officially announced their breakup in 2022, ending their critically acclaimed talk show. Desus & Melo After four seasons. A statement from the show said they will “pursue separate creative endeavors going forward.”
Their partnership seems unlikely to be repaired, at least for now. Later in the podcast, Anthony asked Melo if he felt like he could have another conversation with Nice.
“Probably, I wouldn’t say never,” Melo replied. But he added: “I don’t think that can be fixed. One-on-one, he’s on a different creative path now.”
