Colorado police investigating 2 found dead in dorm room as homicide: ‘Does not appear to be a murder-suicide’

On Friday, hours after two people were found dead in a dorm room at the University of Colorado’s Colorado Springs campus, police said the incident was being investigated as a homicide, not a murder-suicide. .

“At this time in the investigation, this does not appear to be a murder-suicide, and both deaths are being investigated as homicides,” Colorado Springs Police Department said in an update Friday night. “We continue to develop and follow up on investigative leads and will provide additional information as it becomes available.”

The two victims were found dead around 6 a.m. Friday, each with a single gunshot wound to the head, in what police called an “isolated incident.”

The campus was briefly placed on lockdown on Friday, but it was lifted about an hour and a half later. The campus was closed for the day following the shooting.

“We do not believe there is an ongoing threat to the community at this time,” police spokesperson Ira Cronin said at a subsequent news conference.

Police said Friday: “We are in the very early stages of determining what happened. We are notifying the families of the individuals who died. We believe there is no ongoing threat to the community. “We are not thinking about it and are conducting an investigation.” This is an isolated incident. ”

The department said it had no information on suspects or arrests.

“We know this was a difficult day and we know our entire campus is saddened.
