Swalwell on Biden age: ‘I’ll take the guy who’s 81 over the guy who has 91 felony counts’

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-Calif.) pursued former President Trump’s legal issues in an interview on MSNBC on Saturday.

“I would prefer an 81-year-old individual over a man with 91 felonies,” Swalwell Saidaddressed President Biden’s age in an interview on MSNBC’s “Katie Pan Show” on Saturday.

“This is not about two individuals,” Swalwell went on to say about the 2024 election. “This is about the idea of competence versus chaos, or even greater freedom versus fascism. If we can debate those ideas and what they mean in our daily lives, we will win.”

Swalwell’s comments come after Trump was ordered to pay a nearly $355 million fine in a civil fraud case and in the wake of a special counsel report on Biden’s handling of classified documents. The announcement comes amid heightened scrutiny of memory. The report noted that Mr. Biden has problems with his memory and recall abilities.

“We also believe that at trial, Mr. Biden is likely to appear before the jury as a sympathetic, well-meaning, elderly man with a poor memory, just as he was when we interviewed him,” Special Counsel Robert Hur said. “I’m working on it,” he said. I wrote this in the report.

New York Times columnist and podcast host Ezra Klein said Friday on his podcast, “The Ezra Klein Show,” that the president is under intense scrutiny over his age and memory. argued that he should not run for re-election.

“Are you saying it’s a creation of the media that people are worried about Biden’s age because the media keeps telling them to be worried about his age?” Klein said.

“If you’re really convinced of that in your heart, I hardly know what to say to you,” he added. “Poll after poll shows that 70 to 80 percent of voters are concerned about his age. This is not something people need the media to see.”

A recent poll conducted in response to the report found that 86% of Americans think he is too old for public office.

Trump still faces several other legal challenges ahead of the 2024 election season, including an ongoing investigation in Georgia.
