Shakira has revealed that her 12th studio album will be released next month, nearly seven years since the release of her last catalogue.
The “Whenever, Wherever” singer took to Instagram to announce the release date for “Las Mujeres Ya No Lloran (Women Don’t Cry Anymore)” on March 22nd.
Shakira’s latest album debuts months after she took a plea deal and admitted multiple charges of failing to pay 14.5 million euros (approximately $15.8 million) in taxes to the Spanish government between 2012 and 2014.

Shakira wrote on Instagram that she “created” her new album with the help of “a pack of werewolves who supported me every step of the way.”
“Creating this body of work was an alchemical process. While writing each song, I was reinventing myself. As I sang them, my tears turned to diamonds. , my weakness turned into strength.”
In November, the world-renowned singer was spared a $26 million fine and eight years in prison, but was legally found guilty of tax evasion.

Under the deal, Shakira will receive a three-year suspended sentence and must pay an $8 million fine, including unpaid taxes and interest.
In exchange for her prison sentence being waived, an additional $472,000 in fines was requested.

Barcelona prosecutors argued that the “Hips Don’t Lie” singer was required to pay taxes in Spain because he spent more than half of both 2012 and 2014 there.

“I was determined to defend my innocence in a trial where I was confident my lawyers would rule in my favor, but I put the best interests of my children first, who I didn’t want to see, and ultimately decided against this. “We have made the decision to resolve the issue. Shakira, whose full name is Shakira Isabel Mebarak Ripoll, still faces separate tax evasion charges for failing to pay $7.1 million in taxes based on her 2018 income.
