A South Texas sheriff’s candidate is suspected of embezzling more than $1 million from his family, relatives claim. The candidate used a Nicaraguan company to move funds to and from a South Texas security firm, statements and audits provided by the family revealed.
The revelation comes after Francisco “Frank” Guerrero’s brother issued a public statement against his brother, publicly supporting current Hidalgo County Sheriff Eddie Guerra, who is running against Guerrero in the primary for re-election. .
Shortly after their father suffered a stroke in 2019, Frank took advantage of his family and funneled more than $1 million of his father’s life savings, according to a statement signed by Guerrero’s brothers, Abelardo, Ricardo and Raymond. claims.
The issue first came to light during a local political debate, when Frank Guerrero accused the current sheriff of corruption, saying he was awarding large contracts to friends and political supporters, according to CBS4. . But Mr. Guerrero’s campaign, along with the Guerrero brothers, distributed documents in which the brothers called Mr. Guerrero a “fraud” and accused him of embezzlement.
“He (Frank) did it in a way that we as a family would never have thought possible,” the brothers claimed in a statement. “He used our trust to his advantage to facilitate the embezzlement of funds that were part of our father’s life’s work.”
“In just a few years, Frank fraudulently withdrew funds that were supposed to be used to pay for his disabled father’s medical expenses,” the statement continued.
Breitbart Texas contacted the Guerrero family, who confirmed the information in the statement and provided a copy of the audit conducted by a Nicaraguan accounting firm. The investigation revealed that Frank was suspected of using a Nicaraguan electricity company called Edison SA to coordinate the transfer of funds. His own corporate security company is called Valley Metro Group and his G-Force Security. The Guerrero family has relatives and business history in South Texas, Nicaragua and Miami.
The audit said Frank Guerrero was listed as Edison’s chief executive officer, and the audit was conducted to uncover financial irregularities within the company.
Frank Guerrero called the allegations a baseless racketeering effort by his political opponents. He posted a video on Facebook with his mother addressing the issue. Doris Guerrero said in the video that the allegations were unfounded and part of a family feud, and that she was angry that they were being used for political purposes.
