Kansas City Mayor Quinton Lucas (D) called Missouri Governor Mike Parson (R) a racist comment when he called the Chiefs parade shooting suspect a “thug.” He claimed to have used a dog whistle.
of new york post report Lucas made this assessment about KCUR Latest Radio program.
“We can’t let some thugs take over and ruin what happened,” Parson said in response to Wednesday’s shooting.
Lucas told KCUR, “I respect the governor. We get along well. I strongly disagree with how he describes the situation. Certainly this was a criminal act. I think it was a lawless area, and I think it’s a nuisance. But “thug” is a dog whistle in the most classic sense. ”
he continued. “I have seen this dog whistle many times. Now on social media, the reason these mugshots were not published is because the alleged defendant is black. There’s some kind of huge conservative theory that if it was a white defendant, we would have just released it. That’s just ridiculous. There are also safeguards for juveniles.”
On Friday, Breitbart News reported that the two boys were charged with gun-related charges and resisting arrest. Associated Press report A news release from Jackson County Family Court said, “Additional charges are expected in the future as the investigation by the Kansas City Police Department continues.”
