Shaq issued a warning as longtime Eagles center Jason Kelce considers retirement from the NFL.
“If you’re going to retire, here’s my advice: Take it and enjoy your family, brother,” Shaq recently told Kelsey. on “Shaq’s Big Podcast.”
“I made a lot of stupid mistakes where I lost my family and had no one. Not to you. So enjoy your beautiful wife and beautiful children. And what we had Don’t get hung up on. What we had is what we got. You got the ring, people know who you are. Have fun, ’cause also Because I’m a fool and I’ve talked about it for a long time. I lost my entire family. I live alone in a 100,000 square foot house.”
Shaq admits he wasn’t the “best partner” for ex-wife Shawnee. She said Shaunie has four children, sons Shareef and Shakir, and daughters Amira and Mera. She also has a son with Shawnee from a previous relationship.
Shaq filed for divorce from Shawnee Nelson in 2007, but the divorce was canceled less than a year later.
Shawnee then filed for separation in 2009, and the divorce was finalized in 2011.
Shaq has a daughter, Tahira, with ex-girlfriend Arnetta Yardover, whom he dated before marrying Nelson.
“I had two perfect women and I messed them up,” Shaq told Monica’s MoTalk Radio show in June. “My first person was the baby’s mother, Arnetta.” [Yardbourgh]And then I met Shaunie. [Nelson]. Shawnee was also the perfect woman and I ruined her.
“Yeah, we were young and we were always doing stupid things. But the good thing about our relationship is that they forgave me and now we have a good relationship. But when you ask me about perfect women, I have two perfect women and I ruined them just because I was stupid.”
Kelce, who supported his brother Travis in the Chiefs’ playoff game on their way to a Super Bowl championship in 2024, is expected to make a decision soon on whether to return for a 14th season with the Eagles or hang up the cleats.
The 36-year-old has three daughters with wife Kylie.
