Dr. Drew Pinsky: It’s hard to trust the mainstream media

Dr. Drew Pinsky never believed the media distorted the truth until a real estate mogul entered the political fray.

Dr. Pinsky is a board-certified physician and addiction medicine expert who has been a member of the media world for decades. He co-hosted the radio call-in show “Loveline,” appeared on reality shows such as “Celebrity Rehabilitation with Dr. Drew,” and hosted HLN’s “The Dr. Drew Show.” I served as

“No one told me what to say. There was no prejudice I could detect until I encountered [journalists]. Then things fell apart,” Dr. Pinsky told Align. “Everything revolved around Mr. Trump’s derangement. … They became hysterical around this man.”

“I don’t know what to believe. …Read widely and don’t take anything for granted. The truth matters…and the truth has been undermined over the past 20 years or so.”

Case in point: Dr. Pinsky participated in the White House Opioid Symposium early in President Trump’s administration. The day featured important information to help the nation deal with this crisis, but when President Trump suggested: drug dealers should be given the death penaltythat’s all the media tried to share.

“It was a really big day. Nothing was reported. Spider-Man’s senses started tingling,” he recalled.

During the pandemic, these feelings have been more than a tingle. The media has overhyped how devastating COVID-19 is for the average, healthy American, ignored natural immunity, and forced Americans to stay 6 feet apart despite protocols. requested to keep There was no scientific basis.

“Why don’t you just report the news?” he recalled asking at the time. He still asks those questions on the Adam and Dr. Drew Podcast and Ask Dr. Drew.

“The source of all the hysteria about coronavirus was the press,” he said.

Since then, he has continued to say that the mainstream media cannot be fully trusted. He is no longer accepting interview requests from print media, having repeatedly avoided communication.

He said a lack of trust that goes far beyond himself is harming the country.

“I don’t know what to believe. …Read widely and don’t take anything for granted,” he advised. “The truth is important…and the truth has been undermined over the past 20 years or so.”

Dr. Pinsky is not a conservative and avoids tribal conflicts as much as possible. His positions on the morning-after pill have infuriated right-wingers in the past. Now it’s left-wing platforms and power brokers who are attacking him.

and vice versa.

He is open to experts across the ideological divide and rejects the idea that some thought leaders are too problematic to interview. He recalled speaking recently with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who told him it was “brave” to interview him.

“This is the strangest thing I’ve ever heard,” he said, praising the presidential candidate for not adding to the offensiveness in his commentary.

“We need more people like that,” Dr. Pinsky says.

“platforming” people like Kennedy and Dr. Robert Malone; Who contributed to the development of the mNRA vaccine? But he is highly critical of the new coronavirus variants, which he does whenever possible. And it left a mark on him.

“I can definitely say that I learned something from all of them. …I didn’t agree with all of them. [they said]but I just listened to them and did my own thought analysis,” he said.

Much of his skepticism centers on the recent pandemic, from the wisdom of vaccine mandates to the fake science behind masks.

He similarly quipped that the media has downplayed President Joe Biden’s mental capacity.

Dr. Pinsky, who has treated “hundreds” of patients battling dementia over the years, said “something is going on” with Biden’s recent behavior. Such patients often develop “aggression and righteous indignation” when mental clarity is impaired.

Dr. Pinsky has been practicing medicine for decades, but also has a steady career as a TV critic, show host, and occasional actor (“Wild Hogs,” “New York Minute,” “Family Guy”) He continues to work on his side job. He is now an unofficial free speech fighter and is appalled by the steps being taken to silence dissent on social media and elsewhere.

He is equally shocked by the relative silence of Hollywood celebrities on the subject.

“It’s mind-boggling to me…the very people who were speaking truth to power. [are now silent],” he said. “It doesn’t make sense.”

Dr. Pinsky’s curiosity has recently been drawn to the unusual subject of the French Revolution. He expressed how this era is “Public Safety Commission” sent until thousands die Via the guillotine.

“Totalitarianism and reigns of terror are always perpetuated in the name of good deeds,” he said of those days, noting eerie echoes between then and now, such as the normalization of political violence. . He hopes Americans understand the current cultural crisis “before Napoleon steps in and stops us.”
