The Bears opted to keep Fields, who had the top pick last year. I deeply love Fields and always will, but this year the Bears have a better option at QB thanks to the incredible good fortune of having the No. 1 pick again. I feel like there is. Whether they draft Williams at No. 1 or trade down to No. 2 to get Maye, the Bears are poised for long-term success if they get this QB question right.
Fields still has every chance to be a good QB in the NFL, but that’s certainly likely to happen somewhere other than Chicago.
