Former President George H.W. Bush’s speedboat wins $435,000 at benefit auction

Former President George H.W. Bush’s speedboat has a new owner.

The 38-foot-long “Fidelity V” is a George and Barbara Bush Museum intended for the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum and Texas A&M University’s Bush School of Government and Public Service, a spokesperson said. It was reportedly auctioned off for $435,000 during the foundation’s 2024 Presidential Salute.

On this day in history, September 2, 1944, George HW Bush was shot down during World War II.

The event, which took place in Houston last week, was attended by many of the late president’s friends, from former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Peyton Manning. A spokeswoman said the boat’s purchaser was anonymous and it was unclear what would become of the vessel. The event reportedly raised more than $1 million.
