The United Auto Workers (UAW) local union, UAW Local 62, and Ford have reached an agreement to avert a strike at the truck plant in Louisville, Kentucky.
The agreement came after the UAW union announced that about 9,000 auto workers threatened to go on strike Friday at Ford’s most profitable plant, which makes SUVs and pickup trucks.
In a statement provided to The Hill on Wednesday, Ford said it was “pleased to have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor agreement.”
U.A.W. I said “local problem” Issues related to “skilled trades, ergonomics, health and safety” were addressed in the deal. The union added that contracts with three major automakers, Stellantis, General Motors and Ford, are still being negotiated.
The local agreement is different from the national contract the UAW signed in 2023. Ford lost $1.7 billion in profits after the six-week UAW strike late last year.
The Louisville plant is one of two in the state and produces F-Series pickup trucks, Ford Expeditions and Lincoln Navigator SUVs.
