According to California State Police, the 9-year-old girl kidnapped by a couple She was on her way home from school in a white van, but was able to escape minutes later.
The girl was walking from Jefferson Elementary School around 1:45 p.m. when she was grabbed and thrown into a van, Sanger police said.
“The girl started screaming,” Sanger Police Chief Greg Garner said.

“She was literally scared and that’s what caused her to scream like she was screaming,” he added. “Well, I think it was something I put together on my part, but I think the people who committed this crime panicked a little bit because of that and stopped her car and let her get out. ”
The girl ran home and her parents called the police.
“The nine-year-old girl was extremely frightened but also surprisingly calm,” he added.
The girl told police that the two alleged kidnappers were wearing masks and all black clothing. The man, who was sitting in the passenger seat of the woman as she drove, had fair skin and short hair.
Police said the girl’s parents usually pick her up from school, but because school was canceled early that day, the girl had to walk home. She lived just a few blocks from the school.
Garner advised parents about preparing their children for similar situations.
“Parents giving advance advice to their children in situations like this will help them be prepared in case heaven forbid something like this happens,” he said.
Police are working to identify the suspect and vehicle. Residents in the area are being asked to check CCTV for any information that may help the investigation.
Sanger is a city of approximately 26,600 people located 21 miles from Fresno.
