ATHENS, GA — The brother of Jose Ybarra, the suspect who killed Augusta University student Laken Riley on Thursday, has been fired from the University of Georgia for presenting a fake green card to work in the University of Georgia cafeteria.
“Diego Ybarra presented a false green card to the recruiting department to accept a temporary job as a dishwasher at the University of Georgia’s Bolton Dining Hall on February 6, 2024,” UGA spokesperson Greg Trevor said. he told FOX News Digital in a statement.
Trevor added that Ybarra was then “fired” after “failing to submit further documentation required to continue working and failing to receive payment from the university.”
A neighbor told Fox News Digital that suspect Diego Ybarra worked at UGA’s cafeteria. The neighbor said he and his brother had lived in the Athens apartment for “about six months.”
