Some future Hall of Famers, such as Derek Jeter and Kobe Bryant, announce their impending retirement before or during the season, resulting in a “farewell tour.”
Sue Bird did the same thing two years ago during her final WNBA season.
Bird announced midway through the 2022 season that he would retire at the end of that season, giving both fans and the team a chance to say goodbye to a WNBA legend.

However, LeBron James recently claimed he was “50-50” on the idea.
Bird says James should absolutely have it.
“Looking back, I still have fond, nostalgic memories. I wouldn’t change anything. I’m so glad I announced it when I announced it and was able to experience the farewell tour. And , actually I was against it at some point a few years ago, and it was interesting for me to have an experience like that…” Bird said. sports media podcasts.
“If I talked to LeBron right now, he’d say, ‘Bro, I can’t recommend this enough.’
Byrd admitted he wasn’t sure if he wanted the attention, but said he felt obligated to give his fans one last thank you.

“You almost have to look outside of yourself and understand that this is going to mean something to a lot of people,” she said.
Bird said such a tour could be overwhelming, “but I just think the pros outweigh the cons.”
It seems like the Birds are thinking about parting ways with the all-time leading scorer.
“Sometimes I feel like I owe it to my fans who have been on this journey with me for over 20 years, and to give them the moments they give you in any city, no matter the circumstances. I think I was able to do it.” I don’t care if it’s your flowers or anything. That’s cool,” he said during All-Star weekend.
