RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel will officially resign after Super Tuesday.

She wrote in a statement: “I have chosen to sit out spring training on March 8th in Houston to allow candidates to select a chairman of their choice. Then it changed, but it was my intention to honor that tradition.”

Fox News reported:

Republican National Committee Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel will officially resign after the Super Tuesday primary on March 5, weeks after former President Trump called for her resignation.

The announcement comes weeks after President Trump unveiled his recommendations for changes within the RNC earlier this month. He suggested Michael Whatley, chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, take over as chairman, with his daughter-in-law Lara Trump and senior campaign adviser Chris Lacivita also in leadership positions.

“It has been the honor and privilege of my life to elect the Republican Party and grow the party for seven years as Chairman of the Republican National Committee,” McDaniel said in a statement. “I have decided to step down to allow candidates to choose their favorite chairs at spring training in Houston on March 8th. It was my intention to honor that tradition.”

“I remain committed to reclaiming the White House and electing a Republican on the ballot in November,” she added, thanking her husband, family and RNC staff.

Donald Trump has previously expressed support for who should become the new RNC chairman.

He wants Michael Whatley, chairman of the North Carolina Republican Party, to be the new chairman and his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to be co-chair.

The Epoch Times reported:

Former President Donald Trump on February 12 endorsed North Carolina Republican Party Chairman Michael Whatley to replace RNC Chair Ronna McDaniel. He also expressed support for his daughter-in-law, Lara Trump, to serve as RNC co-chair.

In a news release, President Trump emphasized the need for the RNC to play a critical role in ensuring fair and transparent elections across the country and working seamlessly with campaigns in the upcoming general election.

“The RNC must be a good partner in the presidential election. It must perfectly do the job we expect from the National Party: ensuring fair and transparent elections across America and , which means securing votes and working with my campaign as the Republican presidential candidate to win elections, even in parts of the country where it’s not easy. Let’s make it great again!” President Trump said in a statement.

Following reports that McDaniel would resign, President Trump endorsed Michael Whatley as his successor, citing Whatley’s loyalty and commitment to election integrity.
