A Florida father uses his doorbell camera to confess to his wife that he shot and killed their son during an argument, disrupting a new video show.
David Contreras, 52, was caught on camera apparently admitting to killing his 22-year-old son Eric at their Miami home in November, according to newly released footage obtained by authorities. It was getting worse. local news 10.
“He’s not breathing. He’s dead,” Mr. Contreras was heard telling his wife shortly after he allegedly opened fire on Nov. 3.
“The fighting on the way home was excruciating.”
At one point, a distraught Contreras was seen crouching on the ground and covering his face with his hands.
“This is not your fault. Please call your brother,” he begged his wife, according to the video.
The video cut out with the voice of his wife lamenting, “He’s going to jail.”
Contreras eventually called 911 immediately after speaking with his wife, telling the dispatcher, “I just shot my son.”
When police arrived at the family’s home, they found Eric, a student at Florida International University, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Eric was returning home from university to celebrate his birthday and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Contreras was arraigned Nov. 27 and pleaded not guilty to second-degree murder.
It’s still unclear exactly how the argument between father and son escalated into gun violence.
The father is being held without bail until his next court hearing scheduled for March 11.
