Tragic Shooting in Georgia: A Family Dispute Turns Deadly
A man in Georgia has been accused of killing his wife and her daughter during a heated argument over elderly care. Authorities say Ralph Mincey, aged 63, lost control amid escalating tensions.
Reportedly, Mincey shot his 37-year-old daughter, Amanda McBrayer, in the head after she confronted him about not properly caring for her mother. Afterward, he directed the gun at his wife, Jennifer Lynn Mincey, and fired again. This series of events unfolded in their home in a small town called Oxford, which is about 60 miles from Atlanta.
In a recently released 911 call, Mincey expressed his anguish, saying, “My wife told my daughter that I wasn’t taking care of her… I just shot my daughter and my wife of 38 years.” He admitted feeling overwhelmed, stating, “I just couldn’t take it anymore. The lies and them screaming at me… I just lost it. I’m so sorry. 38 years. I love her.”
According to police, Mincey claimed to have delivered a “9 mm direct hit to the head” of his daughter. First responders arrived at the scene to a shocking and tragic situation. Amanda was pronounced dead at the scene, while her mother was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
In the aftermath, McBrayer’s husband reported to dispatch that Amanda had been “drunk” and “agitated” during the altercation with her father. He relayed to dispatchers that he had taken her to her parents’ home, where the confrontation escalated. Mincey allegedly threatened to use his gun before shooting Amanda.
Witnesses conveyed how chaotic the scene became, with Mincey reportedly grabbing his wife by the throat and threatening her as well. The husband, fearing for the safety of their two children, stated he had to run away from the situation.
Mincey has been charged with murder and remains in custody without bail while the investigation continues.
