Rising Muslim state lawmaker who said Biden has ‘no spine’ admits he is not sure if he can vote him in 2024

Abraham Ayyash, a rising state senator from Michigan, is one of President Biden’s most vocal critics in the state, which could be a critical juncture in the 2024 election.

Ayyash has previously said that Biden is “spineless” because he is not doing enough to encourage a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war. According to Politicowho has repeatedly criticized Biden to Michiganders.

“We’re talking about Joe Biden,” he said in his speech. “He has stood tall and has not demanded peace for the Palestinians, nor has he demanded peace for the Israelis, but instead he continues to fund genocide. ”

The lawmaker has been putting political pressure on Biden ahead of Tuesday’s presidential primary and is calling on other lawmakers in the state to do the same.

“Ayyash signed on to the ‘Michigan Listens’ campaign, pledging to vote ‘no-committal’ on Tuesday and urging other Democrats to do the same,” Politico reported. “For the general election, if Biden doesn’t move, Ayyash said he’s really worried about how he’ll vote. He’s considering leaving the top of his ticket blank.”

“I have advised the public not to put their full effort into the presidential primaries to remind all candidates that they must win the votes of their constituencies,” Ayyash told the media. “When I run for office, I don’t say vote for me because the other guy is worse.”

Nasser Beydoun, a Dearborn, Michigan, businessman, said Ayyash is “a respected leader in the community. He has influence and people will listen.”

“The numbers will be known on February 27th,” Beydoun added, referring to the primaries.

Some leading Democratic politicians in Michigan have become publicly frustrated over divisions within the party.

“So they want Donald Trump?” Michigan Democratic Rep. Debbie Dingell said in December, according to Politico. “This man called them pests and said he would ban them.”

“It’s very insulting for people to come to Arab and Muslim communities and say, ‘If you don’t support Biden, you’re effectively supporting Trump,'” Ayyash said.

“This is disrespectful to the affected communities,” he said, adding:[w]”The way you motivate people is you can’t put them in a state of fear every time,” he said.

“You feel it [the administration] “I can’t believe people won’t support President Biden because of Trump’s candidacy,” Ayyash said. “But for our country to be complicit in this genocide is far worse than Donald Trump.” he said.
