On Friday, Arizona Senate candidate Kari Lake (R) won the support of three more Republican senators in her race to unseat Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.) in the Grand Canyon State.
Sen. Joni Ernst (R-Iowa) said in a statement of support that the state needs “fighters” for border security. She claimed that Lake “does exactly that.”
“Arizona has been hit hard by Joe Biden’s reckless spending that has led to the border crisis and high inflation,” Ernst said in a statement. “Arizona deserves a senator who will fight to secure our borders, lower prices, and restore safe streets to our communities.”
“I know Kali Lake will do just that,” she added. “I am thrilled to endorse Mr. Cali for Arizona’s Senate seat.”
Sen. James Risch (R-Idaho) echoed Ernst’s praise of Lake, claiming he was “proud” to support the former news anchor.
“Joe Biden and Senate Democrats have made America less safe, secure, and prosperous. Arizona needs a senator who will fight for the American Dream,” he wrote. “I’m proud to support Kari Lake as a candidate for the Arizona Senate. She will fight to protect America’s future.”
Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) attacked President Biden and Lake’s closest rival in the state, Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-Ariz.), in expressing his support for Lake. .
“Joe Biden and Ruben Gallego have destroyed our economy, made our streets less safe, and failed to secure our borders,” he wrote in a statement of support. “Lake Potash will get our economy back on track and get our border wall completed. I’m proud to support her for the Arizona Senate.”
Lake thanked the senators in a statement following the news.
“I am honored to receive the support of Sens. Risch, Ernst, and Cornyn. All three are men of integrity who stood up for America’s power and freedom,” she wrote. “I look forward to winning Arizona’s Senate seat and working with them to put America First.”
Mr. Lake has previously worked with Sens. J.D. Vance (Ohio), Marsha Blackburn (Tennessee), Steve Daines (Montana), Rand Paul (Kentucky), It has the support of at least nine Senate Republicans, including Sen. Bill Hagerty of Tennessee. Roger Marshall (Kansas), Tom Cotton (Arkansas), Tommy Tuberville (Alabama), John Barrasso (Wyoming). A handful of House Republicans have also expressed support for Lake.
She also secured the support of the Senate Republican campaign arm.
Despite that support, Mr. Gallego is ahead of Mr. Lake and Mr. Sinema (who has not yet announced whether he will run for reelection) in a hypothetical three-way race, according to a recent Emerson College Poll/The Hill poll. (No).
Lake has also been endorsed by former President Trump, the leading Republican candidate for the presidential election in October. She said he would be “honoured” if he joined her campaign.
Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan election handicapper, rates the Arizona Senate seat a “toss-up.”
