Prosecutors who charged Brown last year in Vance’s death said Brown struck a Detroit man during a confrontation on Sept. 1, 2023, after officers responded to a call of a disorderly person outside a bowling alley. Brown was later fired from the Detroit Police Department, according to his attorney.
