Biden Shouldn’t Take Cognitive Test, That Would Lead to More Criteria to Run

On Friday’s “CBS Morning,” Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vermont) said President Joe Biden should not take a cognitive test to address concerns about his age. , today is age, tomorrow is this, tomorrow is that. ”

co-host Nate Burleson asked.[W]We’re looking at former President Trump and President Biden, and we’re concerned about their cognitive awareness, or even their decline in those areas. What do you think about that conversation between voters? ”

Mr. Sanders replied: “Look, I think this is real. That’s absolutely true. Every poll shows that people are concerned about this. What I’m saying is, you, me, Trump. It’s just that when you look at someone, you have to look at the whole person. … So, look, do you think Biden is a good president? He’s accomplished a lot. Did he? I think he does. How much do you want to see? No. From an integrity standpoint, from an integrity standpoint, someone who wants to give even more tax cuts to the wealthy, undermine democracy. Do you think Trump is the right person to be the person you want to be? I mean, it’s not just age. It’s what you believe in and what you’ve done.”

Co-host Tony Dokoupil then asked, “President Biden, this just came up yesterday, do you think he needs to take a cognitive test to end all of this?” Asked.

Sanders said, “No, look, if you’re interested in that business, you need all these criteria, because before you run for president, today is age, tomorrow is this, tomorrow is this.” This is what democracy is all about. …If you don’t like him, don’t vote for him for any reason. But I don’t think we should have such standards. ”
