One of Trader Joe’s fan-favorite products has been recalled after it may have been contaminated with the hard plastic of a permanent marker.
More than 61,839 pounds of Trader Joe’s steamed chicken xiao long bao were recalled on March 2, according to the USDA Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
The California-based grocery chain said the recalled products were sold across the country.
The issue came to light after some consumers complained about the hard plastic in the 6-ounce product. A plastic wrapped box containing 6 dumplings.
Heritage Store’s hydrogen peroxide mouthwash is recalled due to violation of pediatric packaging and risk of poisoning.
CJ Foods Manufacturing Beaumont, Beaumont, Calif., is recalling approximately 61,839 pounds of steamed chicken xiaolongbao products because they may be contaminated with hard plastic from permanent marker. (Ministry of Agriculture, Food Safety and Inspection Bureau)
The affected dumplings were manufactured on December 7, 2023.
The following products are subject to the recall:
- Box with plastic tray containing 6 pieces of “TRADER JOE’S Chicken Xiao Long Bao” with lot codes “03.07.25.C1-1” and “03.07.25.C1-2” printed on the side of the 6 oz box.

USDA’s FSIS said it is concerned that some consumers may be storing this product in their freezers.
Chrysler recalls more than 330,000 Jeep Grand Cherokees due to steering wheel issue
Consumers were urged not to eat any potentially contaminated dumplings and to immediately throw them away or return them.
No side effects or injuries have been reported, according to FSIS.
