Colorado Republicans are calling the state’s top elections official after the Supreme Court ruled 9-0 that Colorado cannot block former President Trump from appearing on the 2024 ballot. threatened with a recall campaign.

Republican officials accused Mr. Griswold of making a “self-serving political decision to rig the primary” against Mr. Trump and said they would use “all legal actions to retaliate, including formal recall efforts.” He declared that “options” were on the table.

The letter was signed by Boebert, Colorado Republican Party Chairman Dave Williams, state party vice chair Hope Schepelman, and Secretary Anna Fegason.

Mr. Griusold said Monday that he was disappointed that the Supreme Court, in a unanimous decision, overturned his decision to bar Mr. Trump from voting.

“My bigger reaction is disappointment,” Griswold said on MSNBC. “I believe states should be able to constitutionally ban insurrectionists who violate their oaths.”

“Ultimately, this decision leaves the door open for Congress to act to pass authorization legislation, but we know that Congress is a largely dysfunctional institution,” she added. Ta. “So ultimately it will be up to American voters to save our democracy in November.”

President Trump says Supreme Court ruling in Colorado case is ‘unifying and inspiring’

Colorado had argued that President Trump was disqualified from office under the 14th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution for inciting an “insurrection” at the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021. However, nine justices ruled that Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution “prohibits the entry of former members of Congress who: “Involvement in rebellion,” which prohibits a person from holding public office again, can only be enforced by Congress.

“We conclude that states may disqualify persons holding or seeking state office. However, states are constitutionally entitled to “There is no authority to enforce Article 3,” the court wrote.
