“I wore tape around this man’s ankle and thumb every day for 13 seasons, and when he played his last game in Tampa, I couldn’t be there because of cancer,” Opera wrote. . “And when he said he was retiring and I expressed regret that I couldn’t be the last person to tape him, he asked me to tape him for his retirement press conference. That’s who he is.”

“You all know his accomplishments on the field, and he’s had many accomplishments off the field, but it’s almost indescribable how much this man has meant to me and my family today over the last 10 years. “It is invaluable,” he wrote.

Opera added that Kelce, who could eventually be inducted into the Hall of Fame, was instrumental in supporting Opera and his family after his diagnosis.

“I hope these stories will add to an already incredible legacy,” Opera wrote.
