Most buyers of Honda’s first electric SUV will qualify for the full $7,500 EV tax credit offered by the U.S. government.
“Federal tax credits apply to all 2024 Prologue purchases manufactured after February 26, 2024,” the automaker said in a press release Thursday. “All his 2024 Prologues will be eligible upon lease.”

Honda says tax credits can bring the Honda Prologue’s starting price as low as $39,900, not including shipping and handling. Starting price is $41,295 including shipping and handling.

News about Prologue qualifying comes about six weeks after the automaker revealed it was targeting a March market debut for its electric vehicles.
Honda describes the Prologue as a “spacious, adventure-ready” midsize SUV that can travel about 300 miles on a fully charged battery.
Three different trims are available: EX, Touring, and Elite. Honda says the EX and Touring are available in two-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations, while the Elite is available only with all-wheel drive.

The company has revealed for the first time that it plans to produce the Prologue in summer 2021. The company said it relies on a “flexible global EV platform powered by Ultium batteries” through its partnership with General Motors.
The launch of the Prologue is intended to support Honda’s efforts to eventually sell electric vehicles only in North America. The automaker has said it hopes to reach that milestone by 2040.
