Baseball Hall of Famer’s wife said she had ‘grown men bullying me’ to try to get husband on local radio show

Jim Thome is off social media, so it’s a little difficult to get him on the airwaves.

Well, the folks at ESPN Cleveland made a small bet on the intern to win a Hall of Fame induction at the radio station.

An intern named Nick was challenged to book Thome on the station’s “The Really Big Show.” If he succeeds, the college student will win his $100.

Nick went to work, but apparently he had crossed a line.

When Thome took a break from social media, Nick once again turned to Thome’s wife, Andrea, and the couple’s high school son.

Nick tagged both Andrea and his son in numerous posts and sent multiple requests to Thome’s wife for Jim to join.

Listeners of the show added what they thought was fun. But it was something else entirely for Andrea Thome.

“While I value kindness and connection, this is my personal account and not a vehicle for booking my husband on a talk radio show,” she wrote on X (formerly Twitter) . “Please don’t blame me for that. And please don’t tag our kids in such efforts. He has an agent for a reason.”

MLB top prospect suspended 80 games after positive PED test

“There were no grown men at @ESPNClevel and no grown men to bully me on International Women’s Day ’cause your intern could win $100 while my husband was working across the country. I’m not going to bother you when I call you. Me and the kids, how about Venmo? Step back?”

The Thomes made headlines earlier this week after the Barstool Sports host was given the task of naming the top 10 home run hitters in MLB history and was not allowed to leave his office until he was done. Thirty-six hours later, he named Thome, who ranks No. 8 all-time, even though Andrea called into the show to give him a hint.

In another post, Andrea said: “I called for the first time the other day and offered a lead when Jim was unable to do so because he was working one of three jobs.” “Now I’m going to be involved with all the copycats who try these stunts to get on talk shows, right? Come on. I think it’s a good day to cull the herd.”
