George Conway says Supreme Court ruling in Trump Colorado case not exactly ‘good news’

Conservative lawyer George Conway says the Supreme Court’s decision in former President Trump’s Colorado voting case is not “good news,” but he believes Trump will lose at the polls rather than be disqualified before the election. He claimed to want it.

“It’s hard to think of what the good news is.” Conway spoke to MSNBC’s Katie Pan about the ruling. “I’ll say this. I mean, I understand how people feel. I’d rather see Donald Trump defeated at the ballot box than removed from the ballot, and I think that’s going to happen.”

The Supreme Court unanimously ruled that Colorado could not disqualify Trump from voting under Title 14.th Amendment Prohibits Insurrection. The amendment would prevent individuals who rebelled from returning to office after taking an oath to uphold the Constitution.

The system was originally intended to prevent former Confederate congressmen from returning to office after the Civil War, but after the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, anti-Trump voters turned against Trump in dozens. The case remained dormant until the case began to be filed.

Conway insisted that all nine Supreme Court justices understood that disqualifying the former president “would create a backlash against the court and a backlash against the ruling.”

In an interview with CNN, Conway said he thought the justices had a “very difficult” time making this decision because the three opinions released “just don’t make any sense.”

The Trump critic went on to say that the silver lining in the situation is that the Colorado Supreme Court and other courts across the country have “irrefutably found that Donald Trump is an insurrectionist.”

“But we find no comfort in the court’s opinion refusing to apply the law,” he said.

Following the judges’ decision, President Trump celebrated, saying, “This is a huge victory for America!!!” He said the verdict was “uniting and moving” because it was unanimous among the judges.
