Jimmy Kimmel Says He Was Told Not to Read Trump’s Oscars Criticism

Academy Awards host Jimmy Kimmel said he was told not to read former President Donald Trump’s Truth Social posts during a live broadcast on ABC television Sunday.

Kimmel told Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos in an interview after the Oscars that some people advised them not to read former President Trump’s posts dissing both Kimmel and the Oscars.

“They say, ‘I have a minute,’ and I say, ‘I’m reading Trump’s tweets,’ and they say, ‘No, no, don’t read that,'” Kimmel said, adding that they He added that he had disobeyed orders. “‘Yes, it is.'”

Kimmel did not elaborate on who gave him the orders, but it appears to have been someone from the Academy or ABC.

Former President Donald Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday’s show and criticized Kimmel.

President Trump posted, “Was there a worse host for the Oscars than Jimmy Kimmel?”

“His opening was about a below-average person trying too hard to be something they’re not, and never being able to be… Also, tonight was a really bad politically correct show, after all these years. It was disjointed, boring, and deeply unfair. Why not give an Oscar to the people who deserve it? That could bring the ratings and TV ratings back from rock bottom. Let’s make America great again!”

Kimmel waited until just before the final award was presented to read most of Trump’s post live on air.

When he sang “Make America Great Again,” the celebrity audience performing live at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles burst into laughter and cameras were trained on Jodie Foster, who clearly thought it was funny. That’s what I thought.

“Thank you, President Trump. Thank you for watching. Your prison sentence has passed, right?” Kimmel added, and the audience erupted into even louder cheers and applause.

Among the stars who appeared on camera to applaud Kimmel were Annette Bening and barbie Star Margot Robbie.

Jimmy Kimmel has regularly used his late-night ABC show to attack President Trump and his supporters.

The businessman comedian once publicly admitted that his decision to continue attacking Trump cost him “half of my fans, maybe more.”
