Los Angeles has long been a top city for college basketball fans, as it is home to four Division 1 NCAA teams: the UCLA Bruins, CSU Northridge Matadors, Loyola Marymount Lions, and USC Trojans.
According to WalletHub, the city has won the most NCAA Championships since 1938, with 11 total.
WalletHub analyst Cassandra Happe discussed the rankings with Fox News Digital.
“UCLA’s dominance in Los Angeles, with its rich history of NCAA championships and Hall of Fame coaches, strengthens the city’s status as a basketball mecca,” she said.

Philadelphia came in at No. 2, ranking highly because it has the most Division 1 NCAA teams of any city at six, the most of any city.
Philadelphia also has four Hall of Fame coaches.

Storrs, Conn., is the home of the University of Connecticut Huskies, who have won five national championships, according to WalletHub analysts.
“Despite being home to the only Division I team, the University of Connecticut Huskies, Storrs stands out because of its close ties to the team and the city’s passionate fan base,” she said.
The city also has one of the highest fan engagement numbers and is known for its fans’ preference for attending games in person.

Ann Arbor, Michigan, ranked 29th, Salt Lake City, Utah, ranked 50th, and Lynchburg, Virginia, ranked 87th.
WalletHub also found that the best-performing team was from Spokane, Washington, home of Gonzaga University, and the worst-performing team was Mississippi Valley State University in Itta Bena, Mississippi.
