4 dead in West Virginia housefire; suspect reportedly committed suicide

Four bodies were discovered Monday in the remains of a West Virginia home that caught fire, and a suspect was later found dead by suicide at a separate location, authorities said.

The fire broke out in the Lewis County community in Ireland. In a statement, State Fire Marshal’s Office spokesman Tim Locke declined to provide details on how the investigation began or other details of the investigation.

Sheriff’s deputies found the body of a 45-year-old man inside a car in the Kanawha County community of Houston, about 110 miles southwest of Ireland. The sheriff’s office said the car was parked outside the home of one of the man’s relatives, who called authorities when the man first knocked on the door.

Deputies confirmed to Lewis County authorities that the man was the suspect in the fire. Locke said the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an investigation into the man’s death.
