New Poll Shows Even Democrat Voters Are Concerned With Border Security

A new poll conducted by Immigration Hub and Global Strategy Group finds that even a majority of Democratic voters are concerned about security issues at the southern border as the 2024 election approaches.

The survey was as follows. carried out From February 7th to February 19th, “1,200 likely voters” in “battleground states” such as Arizona, Georgia, and Pennsylvania were asked a series of questions about immigration, as well as 200 questions targeted at Hispanic voters in the states. Additional interviews were conducted. Nearly 43% of voters said immigration was one of their top concerns heading into the 2024 election, and 65% said they wished Congress had passed the border bill that Republicans rejected in the Senate. Democrats strongly supported the question of “providing legal recourse for Dreamers and undocumented immigrants who have been here for years,” but they were equally interested in border security policy, the poll found. . About 84% of Democrats said they support investing in “strengthening testing capacity at the border to detect fentanyl and other illegal drugs.” The same percentage of Democrats supported “improving technology and infrastructure” to “modernize border surveillance methods.”

Additionally, voters generally support hiring more Border Patrol agents, with 73% of Democrats, 74% of independents, and 88% of Republicans supporting it. Notably, Republicans are more likely to support an “asylum ban,” with 47% of Republicans supporting it compared to 17% of Democrats. Thirty percent of Republicans supported returning to policies that “separate immigrant families at the border,” compared to 14% of Democrats.

As the border crisis continues and affects many blue cities, some Democratic lawmakers are now vocally criticizing the federal government’s response at the southern border. Former Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo on Sunday took a swipe at the Biden administration, calling the influx of immigrants into his state “the worst government failure” he has seen in his time in politics.

Democrat Julian Epstein, a former top lawyer on the House Judiciary Committee, also recently spoke out against the Biden administration, saying Democratic “elites” are “out of touch” with issues at the southern border.
