Loose pig in Louisiana sends sheriff’s department on wild goose chase through the woods

Police in St. Tammany Parish, Louisiana, recently received an unusual call about a stray pig.

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office described the adventure in a March 13 Facebook post, noting the irony of officers being called to help capture the pig.

“Ah, this is ironic,” the Facebook post said, adding, “There will be a lot of photos (and maybe videos) on the Ole Face app, but we hope we can make a joke out of it.” I want to get ahead of the curve.”

A pig named ‘Kevin Bacon’ escapes and entertains a Wisconsin town.

“Well…let’s accept it,” the ministry also wrote in a post.

The department said in a post that it received a call “about a stray Miss Piggy running loose on Dixie Ranch Road in Slidell.”

The city of Slidell is located approximately 30 minutes northeast of New Orleans.

Police officers were photographed standing behind the pig, armed with cookies to lure her in and rope to tie her up. That’s when “things went wrong.”

“There was certainly more than a short foot chase through the woods,” the post said.

It appears that the attempt to capture the pig did not go as planned.

The post also notes, “There’s also a sad attempt by Deputy Joey Schwindling to rope Miss Piggy.” “Guys, we’re not trained in this.”

Another deputy had better luck trying to capture a released pig.

“Deputy Katie Robbins, who grew up on a farm, rushed to the scene and saved the day with her rope handling skills,” the department said.

The pig was brought to St. Tammany Parish Animal Services after attempts to find its owner were unsuccessful.

“She has been reunited with her four co-defendants,” the Facebook post said. “It appears that she and her friends have fallen out.”

The St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office says, “If these are your pigs (tight pigs…not ours), please provide proof of ownership and come and retrieve your animals.” said.

The police department urged everyone to be careful and “contain livestock.”

This is the second time in less than a month that police have had to intervene to rescue an escaped pig.
