Jeremy Lucido, manager of the Precinct Bar on Broadway in downtown Los Angeles, told KABC-TV that he had no idea the man he confronted was an elected official when he posted the embarrassing video to the bar’s Instagram account. He said there wasn’t.
Some commenters identified the man as Crescenta Valley City Council member Chris Kilpatrick.
“The comments quickly multiplied with different stories, other parties, party organizers, bar managers, people saying, ‘Oh, I know these guys,'” Lucido added. Ta.
Lucido said she confronted the pair after it closed on March 9, when she realized they had taken cocktails out of the bar.
“As I was walking down the sidewalk to my car, I noticed two men who were drunk on cocktails,” Lucido said. “I recognized the glasses at our bar, so I knew what was in them. I said, ‘Oh my god! I can’t drink in here,’ and went to get one of the cups, and a tall… A man pushed me.” It was just me and I flew back. ”
Kilpatrick initially defended his actions in a statement from his lawyer, saying the employee did not identify himself as an employee of the bar and that Kilpatrick would be the victim of anti-gay bashing. He claimed he was afraid. The attorney also pointed out that public urination is not a crime in Los Angeles.
The city council’s statement made clear that the accused conduct was unbecoming of any councilor.
“The Crescenta Valley Town Council is aware of social media posts regarding allegations regarding the conduct of its members and is actively gathering facts regarding the incident,” the statement reads. “If the incident turns out to be true, such conduct is unbecoming of a member of the council.”
Town Council President Harry Leon said: Said A special meeting was scheduled to address the issue, but Kilpatrick offered to resign before the meeting. The remaining council members accepted the resignations.
“While we do not condone the behavior we observed on social media, we appreciate his three years of dedication and commitment to the community while serving on City Council,” Leon said. .
