Jets using sandwich from fan to help sign Mike Williams

That’s probably the best $21.32 a Jets superfan has ever spent.

Content creator @NYJ_Matt was inspired to order a Taylor ham, egg, and cheese – a truly authentic New Jersey breakfast sandwich – on DoorDash on Tuesday morning. Have it delivered to the Jets facility for receiver Mike Williams.

Williams, who has two career 1,000-yard seasons under his belt, visited Florham Park, New Jersey, as a free agent on Tuesday after hitting the salary cap with the Chargers last week.

“The Jets badly need a WR2,” @NYJ_Matt said in a direct message to the Post. “I’ve never done this before. If my gesture can increase the odds of him signing by 0.1%, I do it every time.”

Matt, who has about 35,000 followers on X and about 1,360 subscribers to his Broadway Jets YouTube page, declined to give his last name because he wants to keep it a secret from his employer. .

The Jets’ social media accounts echoed the idea, tweeting a photo of the sandwich in a bag on a desk in the main lobby upon arrival.

The sandwich at the Morristown Diner cost $8.50, plus fees, taxes, and tip.

Why Taylor ham, eggs and cheese? Does Matt know something about Williams’ tastes that the public doesn’t?

“I bought TEC because it’s North Jersey’s top item,” he wrote.

Matt’s instructions to the driver were, “Give this to the guy at the door and tell him this belongs to Mike Williams and catch a pass from Aaron Rodgers before catching a pass from Bryce Young.” Please tell them that it would be more fun to do so.”

Williams will also reportedly visit Young’s Panthers and Steelers.

Sure enough, he sent (and later shared) a photo of a security guard with a sandwich bag at the admission booth.

The Jets are looking for a receiver to slot between Garrett Wilson and Allen Lazard on the depth chart.

I wish it had been as simple and creative as ordering one from the DoorDash menu.
