Alaska Airlines windshield cracks upon landing in latest drama involving Boeing jets

A Boeing plane operated by Alaska Airlines suffered a crack in the inside windshield as it landed in Oregon on Sunday, the airline said. KPTV. The incident is the latest in a number of problems involving Boeing jets.

The Alaska Airlines flight was heading from Washington, D.C., to Portland International Airport on Sunday when a flight attendant noticed a crack on the inside of the windshield.

In response to the incident, the airline issued a statement saying, “The crew followed the checklist and the aircraft continued to fly safely to its scheduled destination.”

new york post report The airline said its Boeing 737-800s have five layers of windshield: one layer of outer glass, three layers of inner glass, and one layer of inner glass.

“Even if the inner window panes break, other panes and layers can maintain the pressure inside the cabin,” an aviation official said. No injuries were reported to the 159 passengers and six crew members on board the plane.

The newspaper asked Boeing for comment on the situation, but the company reportedly declined to comment.

The Federal Aviation Administration has found dozens of problems in the manufacturing process of Boeing’s 737 MAX jets. Investigators found that mechanics at one of the major suppliers were using hotel key cards and dishwashing detergent as substitute tools to test compatibility, the report said.

However, the FAA was reportedly unable to release specific details about the audit as it continues its investigation into Boeing following an earlier incident involving Alaska Airlines.

The mysterious death of John Burnett has put an even stronger spotlight on Boeing. John Barnett is a former Boeing employee who was in the midst of blowing the whistle on the airline’s questionable quality inspections.

Barnett was found in his truck with a gunshot wound to the head the morning he was scheduled to testify about Boeing’s shortcomings. His death has since been ruled a suicide, but some have questioned whether he may have played a role in foul play.

“John was brave, honest and a man of the highest integrity,” Barnett’s lawyers said in a joint statement.

“He truly cared about his family, his friends, Boeing, his Boeing colleagues, and the pilots and people who flew Boeing aircraft. We have never met a man of such integrity and candor. There are very few.”

Investigators dusted off Barnett’s truck for possible fingerprints, which is highly unusual in a suicide case, people familiar with the case said.
