Biden awkwardly wanders off stage at Arizona campaign event as he ‘couldn’t resist’ a baby

During a campaign event in Arizona on Tuesday, President Biden suddenly walked off stage after noticing a baby in the crowd.

The seemingly awkward moment in Phoenix came during a rally for Latinos supporting President Biden, as Biden shared a brief opening remarks from his campaign manager, Julie Chavez Rodriguez. It was while I was standing.

While she was speaking, Biden noticed the baby and quickly left to sit with the baby and its mother.

“Folks, I have to say this clearly,” Biden said as he returned to the stage at El Portal Mexican restaurant. “I love you all, but I couldn’t resist that little baby.”

On Tuesday, the Democratic presidential nominee appealed to Latino voters at an event to support him in November, when he will likely face former President Trump again in the 2024 general election.

The comment drew cheers and he then said he liked the chance for a rematch in 2024.

“I’m optimistic,” Biden said. “Nothing is beyond our capabilities.”

Rodriguez was the first to speak at the event, appealing to Latino voters to support the Biden-Harris campaign.

“In 2020, Latinos proved what we can do in Arizona and in so many crisis states across this country. For the first time, we put Joe Biden and Kamala Harris in the White House.” “We’re going to do it again in 2024,” she said.

Luis Reyes, a junior at Arizona State University, was then called to the stage to formally introduce the president.

He said he voted for the first time in Tuesday’s presidential election partly because he feared President Trump would deport immigrants. He said this fear is shared throughout Arizona’s Latino community.

After Biden first left the stage, he was seen touching the baby and talking to the mother.

“How old are you?” Biden seemed to whisper to her.

Position on the 2024 presidential nomination race

Tuesday’s event in Phoenix formally launched the Biden campaign’s efforts to reach Hispanic voters, a key voting group for the Democratic Party where the president is losing support.

Arizona Democratic Party Chairwoman Yolanda Bejarano spoke to reporters after the event and slammed Trump.

“He’s a businessman, she said of Trump. But we’ve seen all of his jurors convict him and everything he’s doing.”

She continued: “He’s not a smart businessman. He’s underwater. He’s, you know, lied and cheated to get to this position. And sometimes people think he’s a businessman. You’re thinking, “But we’re calling him again, and now they’re seeing the truth.” ”

Biden ultimately won Arizona in the 2020 presidential election.
