Grady Dick and Anthony Black made headlines earlier this week for their infamous NSFW jersey swap, and Dick was asked for an explanation during his media availability on Tuesday.
When the reporter started, “Grady, I wanted to ask you about the jersey swap the other day,” and Dick burst out laughing.
“That’s my guy. I’ve been playing against him and with him since middle school,” Dick said.
“He’s been my guy for a long time. Boys trade jerseys with boys. That’s my friend.”
Dick was asked if he has any other jersey changes planned this season.
“If I grew up with them and they were my guys, I’d trade jerseys with them,” Dick said, continuing to laugh.
Dick was selected 13th overall in the 2023 NBA Draft by Kansas State and became a rookie for the Raptors.
Black played at the University of Arkansas before being selected by the Magic with the sixth overall pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.
Dick grew up in Wichita, Kansas, and Black grew up in Duncansville, Texas.
After the Magic defeated the Raptors 111-96 on Sunday, the rookies exchanged jerseys, apparently aware they were in for a risqué photo shoot.
The Magic initially posted a photo of the jersey exchange to X, but deleted it after realizing the implications of the exchange.
Despite his team’s victory, Black had an uneventful night, playing just three minutes in a reserve role.
Meanwhile, Dick made his sixth start in 47 games, scoring 10 points and adding one assist in 27 minutes.
Orlando is currently in 5th place in the Eastern Conference with 40 wins and 28 losses, while Toronto is 12th in the conference with 23 wins and 45 losses and is unlikely to make the playoffs.
