In Britain, a self-proclaimed “left-wing anarchist” was sentenced to 13 years in prison on terrorism charges for plotting to assassinate a member of Parliament and writing and distributing bomb-making manuals.
Jacob Graham, 20, of Norris Green, Liverpool, described himself as “Britain’s first homegrown terrorist” and planned to kill at least 50 people in attacks on government buildings and politicians’ homes. Manchester Crown Court heard.
according to Mr Graham’s scheme was revealed by security forces during an investigation into the purchase of dangerous chemicals on the internet, Sky News reported.
Investigators filmed him testing a bomb in his parents’ backyard and discovered he had buried explosives elsewhere.
Mr Graham told police he was a supporter of the Green Party and an “environmentalist” who opposed “corporate behavior and damage to the planet”. Although he describes himself as a “left-winger,” he said he is “more like an anarchist,” explaining, “I don’t like the idea of central control, and I don’t really like the monarchy.”
The discovered document, titled “My Plan,” depicts Ted, also known as the Unabomber, an American domestic terrorist who waged a decades-long campaign of violence to promote a general return to a more primitive society. – Graham’s vision for an assassination operation inspired by Kaczynski was described. “We’re going to attack government buildings and politicians.” [sic] Mass murder of people who think it’s okay to hide their wrongdoings [sic] Behind money and power, you can’t hide from me. The aim is to cause at least 50 deaths and many more injured. What more than a blessing,” Graham wrote.
In his bedroom was a poster with a photo of a car bombing and the caption: “Make politicians afraid to start their cars again.”

The anarchist extremists also created at least 138 video diaries to release during the planned attack. In one such video, he said: “I have everything I need to start a revolution…Most of us can’t afford to heat our homes…We need someone to solve this.”
In another article, while brandishing a machete, he said: “I can’t end my life yet, there is so much carnage to be committed.”
Filmed from his bedroom, Graham said in August: “If terrorism is standing up for what you think is right, standing up for working class people in this country, most of us can’t heat our homes, we can’t buy food. I can’t afford it. I need someone to fix this problem. It’s my responsibility to do this.”
He added: “I was born on British soil so I will be a homegrown terrorist. If they want to call me a warrior of justice or a hero, call me that. If they want to call me scum, then don’t call me that.” Please, I’m not here to listen to everything.”
Mr Graham was found guilty by a jury of one count of preparing a terrorist act, two counts of disseminating terrorist publications and four counts of possessing information for terrorist purposes. He was sentenced to 13 years in prison, his license extended by five years, and must inform police of his whereabouts for 30 years.
Sentencing him, Judge Goose said that while many who knew Graham believed him to be a “normal person” with interests in fireworks and the military, the judge said: You yourself are the first British domestic terrorist. ”
The convictions came as the government widened the definition of extremism to counter the threat posed by Islamic extremists and the “far right.” Cabinet minister Michael Gove announced the new definition in the House of Commons on Thursday, naming several more groups. But Conservative officials have failed to even refer to far-left groups as extremists, despite the government’s own watchdog warning that the government is ignoring the scale and destructive nature of radical left-wing groups.
