A woman’s body was found in the rubble of an early Wednesday explosion that destroyed a duplex in north-central Utah, authorities said.
The explosion was reported just before 6 a.m. in a residential area of American Fork. Officials said the duplex was on fire when firefighters arrived.

Another woman was safely evacuated from Room 2 of the residence, and her dog was also found several hours after the explosion. Authorities believed there were no other residents in the duplex.
American Fork Fire Battalion Chief Brandon Bosshard told KSL-TV that the explosion caused extensive damage to surrounding homes.
The identities of the victims were not immediately released and authorities were trying to determine the cause of the explosion.
