Video: Driver fights off carjackers who try to steal his luxury SUV. Victim manages to get away; crooks depart disappointed.

A driver fought off a car thief who tried to steal his luxury SUV last week in Edison, New Jersey. WPVI-TV reported.

Although the victim managed to escape from the scammers, the bad guys were left quite disappointed. Police said the carjacking was ultimately unsuccessful because the victim had a key chain with him when he fled.

What are the details?

WPVI reports that surveillance video shows the moment three masked suspects approached the victim’s SUV from behind in the parking lot of the Patel Brothers grocery store on Oak Tree Road on Friday afternoon. It was recorded.

The driver’s door was open when the suspects attacked the victim and attempted to hit him before dragging him out of the driver’s seat.

One of the attackers was pushed to the ground along with the driver, but the driver appeared to get back to his feet and the trio appeared to have no further desire to engage with him.

WPVI said the victim had the key chain with him when he ran into the store and called police, adding that without it, the scammers would not have been able to steal the SUV.

Authorities are continuing to search for the suspect, the department said.

The shop’s owner, Kaushik Patel, also identified as the victim’s father, told police about what happened on Tuesday.

“When I saw the video, I was scared… but when I called my son, he said, ‘I’m fine, Dad, don’t worry. It’s just a small wound and everything is fine,'” Patel told WPVI added to. .

The department said Patel’s son was physically okay and returned to work on Tuesday, but remained emotionally shaken. In fact, according to WPVI, this was the second time carjackers had targeted him. Earlier, the scammers fled in a Mercedes G-Class SUV.
