A police officer was shot and killed outside a hotel in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on Thursday morning.

Fort Lauderdale police told X at 10:23 a.m. that the officer was rushed to the hospital, but his condition is stable and is expected to be okay, and the suspected gunman has been “accounted for.” Posted.

Authorities in the popular Florida tourist destination insisted there were no shooting conditions, but few details about the incident were known.

The area near the intersection of 17th Street and 15th Avenue, where the Holiday Inn is located, was closed in all directions.

Police have not disclosed the circumstances leading up to the shooting or the suspect.

An armored truck was parked outside the hotel, and dozens of police vehicles were concentrated in and around the crime scene.

Hotel guests told the Sun Sentinel that the shooting appeared to have started on the pool deck, just above the hotel’s parking lot.

Alexis Boettcher, a guest visiting from Cleveland, told a local newspaper: “We’re moving here. We were getting up to have breakfast at the hotel and the staff shoved everyone into the event room.” . “I came downstairs and they said there was a shooter, and I couldn’t get back into the building.”

Fort Lauderdale is in the midst of a busier-than-usual spring break season this year after party-seekers flocked to venture up the Florida coast as Miami Beach “made a break” with its annual March frenzy.

Law enforcement officials have not said whether there is a connection between spring break and the shooting.

Prior to this incident, Fort Lauderdale police told FOX News Digital that there had been 13 spring break-related arrests between March 1 and March 17, and it had been a peaceful spring break season with no major incidents.
